Botulinum toxin for hyperhidrosis
Hyperhidrosis is when you sweat much more than your body needs to keep its temperature steady. It has nothing to do with hygiene, and it can affect the clothes you choose, how you greet people or your work. The toxin is injected at small, shallow points and temporarily blocks the signal that activates the sweat glands in that area; outside of it, your body sweats as usual.
It's for people who sweat excessively without heat or exercise and no longer get relief from antiperspirants. If the sweating started suddenly or comes with fever, weight loss or other symptoms, we evaluate the cause first. We also don't use it during pregnancy, breastfeeding or with neuromuscular diseases.
