What it is and how it works
Botox
It works by relaxing, in a controlled way, the muscles that create expression lines on the forehead, between the brows and around the eyes (crow's feet). This makes the skin look smoother and more rested.
At the clinic, we also use it for medical purposes, such as excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) and bruxism, each with its own consultation.

Before
- 01Whenever possible, arrive with clean skin: no makeup, creams, sunscreen or oils on the area to be treated.
- 02Avoid alcohol during the 24 to 48 hours before your appointment.
- 03Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen and other anti-inflammatory medications for 2 to 5 days beforehand, provided your physician approves, as they increase the risk of bruising.
- 04If you take anticoagulants or have a bleeding disorder, please let us know before the procedure.
- 05Tell us if you have wounds, an active infection or herpes, dermatitis, inflammatory acne, known allergies or significant sensitivity in the area.
- 06Let us know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have a neuromuscular disorder, muscle-strength changes or a history of reaction to botulinum toxin.
- 07If you have fillers, lifting threads or other recent procedures in the area, let us know so we can define the ideal timing.
- 08Read and sign the informed consent once all your questions have been answered.
After
- 01During the first 4 hours, avoid lying completely flat and do not massage, press or manipulate the treated area.
- 02Avoid intense exercise, saunas, steam rooms, jacuzzis and intense heat during the first 24 hours.
- 03Avoid hats, helmets, glasses or accessories that press on the area during the first hours, especially if the forehead or glabella was treated.
- 04You may wear makeup after 4 to 6 hours, always gently and without rubbing the area.
- 05Avoid eyebrow hair removal for 8 days after the procedure.
What's normal and what to expect
It is normal to experience mild redness, sensitivity, small injection marks or minor bruising in the treated area.
The first effects appear around day 5 and the final result is evaluated between days 10 and 12. The effect usually lasts 3 to 5 months, depending on each patient, the strength of the treated muscles and the dose applied. We look forward to seeing you for your follow-up between days 10 and 12, where we assess your progress and decide whether additional units are needed to optimize your result.

How much does Botox cost?
For the upper face (forehead, frown lines and crow's feet), prices start at $1.100.000 for women and $1.200.000 for men. Other areas are quoted per unit, starting at $19.000 per unit.
