How we do it at Quantum
A medical protocol, not a catalog
Every plan starts with a consultation: we listen to what you want to achieve, review your medical history and decide whether this treatment is right for you.
- 01
Medical consultation
Before any treatment is applied, we review your case and explain what is possible and what isn't.
- 02
D10 Facial Scanner
Everything starts with a consultation, not a catalog: we analyze your skin and scalp before recommending any treatment.
- 03
Follow-up visit
We review the result with you and adjust the plan if needed.
What it is and how it works
Botulinum toxin for migraine
For people diagnosed with migraine, botulinum toxin has a recognized medical use. The protocol spreads the injections across the forehead, temples and back of the head (in this protocol, 50 units), and it's thought to act on pain transmission in that region. It doesn't cure migraine: in selected patients, it can help space out attacks and lower their intensity.
We consider it when migraines affect your work or social life and what you've tried isn't enough. A headache that's new, changed suddenly or comes with neurological symptoms needs to be evaluated first. We don't use it during pregnancy, breastfeeding or with neuromuscular diseases, and your treating doctor continues to manage your medications.
The injections take 20 to 30 minutes and you're back to your routine that same day. The effect builds gradually, and we measure it over the weeks; for that, we'll ask you to write down each attack. Sessions start at $1.500.000.

Your session
Step by step
Here's how your treatment goes, from the consultation to the follow-up visit.
- 01
Consultation with the doctor
We review your diagnosis, how often you have attacks and what treatments you've used. Bring your previous test results or medical reports if you have them.
Medical assessment before treatment
- 02
Injection in the forehead, temples and back of the head
We inject the toxin at defined points in these three areas. The pricks are small and the procedure takes little time.

Tracking your progress
The effect comes gradually. We ask you to log your attacks so we can measure the response and decide with you whether it's worth repeating.

Care before and after
The same recommendations we give you at the clinic.
Before
- 01Whenever possible, arrive with clean skin: no makeup, creams or oils on the forehead, temples or back of the neck.
- 02Avoid alcohol during the 24 to 48 hours before your appointment.
- 03Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen and other anti-inflammatory medications for 2 to 5 days beforehand, if your physician approves, as they increase the risk of bruising.
- 04If you take anticoagulants or have a bleeding disorder, please let us know before the procedure.
- 05Tell us which preventive or rescue migraine medications you use and how often.
- 06Let us know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a neuromuscular disorder or a past reaction to botulinum toxin.
- 07Bring your headache diary if you keep one; it helps us assess your response.
- 08Read and sign the informed consent once all your questions have been answered.
After
- 01During the first 4 hours, avoid lying completely flat and do not massage or rub the injected areas.
- 02Avoid intense exercise, saunas, steam rooms, jacuzzis and intense heat during the first 24 hours.
- 03You can resume your routine right away: the treatment requires no downtime or recovery period.
- 04Continue your usual migraine medication unless your physician says otherwise.
- 05Keep your headache diary: record headache days, intensity and painkiller use for your next visit.
- 06Take care of your sleep, hydration and stress; they enhance the preventive effect.
What's normal and what to expect
It is normal to experience mild redness, sensitivity or small bruises at the injection points, and sometimes a feeling of heaviness or tightness in the forehead or neck during the first few days.
The effect usually begins between day 1 and day 5 and improvement builds over the following weeks. Each application lasts approximately 3 to 6 months.
It is a cycle-based treatment: the response often improves with successive applications. We assess your progress at each follow-up to adjust the plan.

How much does toxin for migraine cost?
Sessions start at $1.500.000 and include 50 units, distributed across the forehead, temples and back of the head.
Does the toxin get rid of migraines?
No. In selected patients, it can help attacks come less often and with less intensity. The response varies from person to person.
How soon will I start to notice the effect?
It usually starts between day 1 and day 5, and the improvement builds over the following weeks. Each treatment lasts 3 to 6 months and is repeated about every 12 weeks, which is why we ask you to log your attacks.
Do the injections hurt?
It's several small pricks spread across the head and neck. Almost all patients describe it as tolerable discomfort that passes quickly.
What side effects can it cause?
There's usually some tenderness at the injection points, some neck pain or a small bruise. Less often, a temporary heavy feeling in the forehead or an eyelid may occur.
Should I stop my medications?
No. Any change to your treatment is decided by your treating doctor; the toxin adds to what you're already doing.
When can't it be used?
We don't recommend it during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with neuromuscular diseases, with an infection in the area, or if you're allergic to any of its components. A new or different headache must be evaluated first.
